Child Safety Policy

The safety and welfare of children is our highest priority. This policy describes how the Bright Future School Service is designed and operated to protect students and to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and other harm.

1. A closed, school-issued community

The Service is not a public social network. Accounts are created only by the School for its own parents, students and staff. There is no public sign-up, no stranger contact, and no public discovery of children.

2. Restricted access to children's data

Role-based access controls limit what each user can see: a parent sees only their own children; a teacher only their assigned classes; staff only what their role requires.
Confidential records (e.g. health) are restricted to authorised staff such as the school nurse and leadership.
The system isolates each school's data so no one outside the school can access it.

3. Controlled communication

Messaging is directed and limited to legitimate school relationships (e.g. a parent and their child's teachers, or the school office). It is not open one-to-one messaging between any users.
Media messaging can be turned off by the School, and uploaded files are validated to block disguised or unsafe content.

4. Reporting and moderation

Any user can report a post or comment from within the app. Reports are sent to school staff and safeguarding leads, who review and act on them. The School may remove content, restrict accounts, and escalate concerns in line with its safeguarding procedures and local law.

5. Standards against CSAE

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Content or behaviour that endangers a child is strictly prohibited and will be removed and reported to the School's designated safeguarding lead and, where appropriate, to law-enforcement or child-protection authorities.

7. Working with parents

Parents and guardians are partners in keeping children safe online. We encourage supervision of younger students' use of the app and welcome questions about how the Service protects children.
